Oasi di Alviano

Oasi di Alviano

In the Tiber valley, north of Alviano, you find the so-called Oasi di Alviano. It is a marshy area around an artificial lake that has been created by damming the Tiber, where a particularly rich flora and fauna conditions prevail. Because of this richness the area is managed by the WWF.

The Oasi are especially famous for the huge amount of rare birds that can been seen here. Many migratory birds visit the Oasi to forage and to rest after a long flight. But you also see beavers, butterflies, amphibians and many reptiles.

The Oasi are not always accessible to visitors. From mid May until September 1 they can only be visited on Sundays and holidays (from 10:00).
